Description

ONE SIMPLE SYSTEM. ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES.

TILEZ is a 2D creative sandbox where every tile is a tiny machine.

Connect tiles, send signals, build machines, and watch your creations come alive — all directly on an infinite grid.

Start with a switch and a light. Add a timer. Add some memory. Add a counter.

Before long, you’ve built a machine. Then keep going.

Build automated factories. Robots. Puzzles. Computers. Board games. Arcade games. Traps. Rube Goldberg machines. Interactive worlds.

In TILEZ, you don’t just build things. You build the rules that make them work.

BUILD WITH LOGIC

Create systems using power, signals, memory, timers, counters, logic gates, wireless communication, and conditional actions.

No programming language. No traditional scripting. No separate code editor.

Just place tiles, connect them, experiment, and see the results immediately.

TILEZ is powerful enough for advanced creators — even Turing-complete systems — but you can start without knowing anything about computer science.

Learn by building.

BUILD MACHINES THAT MOVE

Your creations aren’t limited to static circuits.

Pushers, Pullers, and Grabbers can physically move connected groups of tiles as complete structures.

Build conveyor systems, automated factories, moving platforms, sorting machines, robots, mechanical contraptions, Rube Goldberg machines, and traps.

Build the machine. Then make the machine move.

BUILD YOUR OWN GAMES

Use the same system to create playable games directly inside TILEZ.

Puzzle games. Arcade machines. Tower defense. Snake. Breakout. Adventure maps. Rhythm games. Interactive stories. Custom challenges — or invent something completely new.

Create the board. Create the pieces. Create the rules. Then play the game you built.

YOUR OWN DIGITAL TABLETOP

TILEZ can also become your tabletop.

Build boards, cards, dice, counters, turn systems, scoring systems, hidden information, automated rules, and multiplayer experiences.

Create your own board games. Recreate old favorites. Build tools for your tabletop campaigns. Or finally turn that game idea you’ve had for years into something people can actually play.

BUILD IT ONCE. REUSE IT FOREVER.

Turn complex creations into reusable Modules.

Build a circuit once and use it as a component inside a larger machine. Modules can even be nested inside other Modules.

A component becomes a machine. A machine becomes a system. A system becomes a world.

Your creations become your building blocks.

MAKE IT YOURS

Not everything has to be functional.

Create pixel art, environments, animated scenes, interactive displays, music machines, decorative worlds, and visual effects.

Choose from a huge library of textures and images, or import your own to make your tiles look like anything.

Use tile stacking and the Decor layer to separate visual detail from the underlying simulation. Capture your own textures and create custom tiles for your builds.

TAKE THINGS APART

TILEZ is built around experimentation.

Interactive Guidebooks and tutorials let you learn directly inside the world.

Find something interesting. Inspect it. Take it apart. Change it. Figure out why it works. Then build something completely different.

The goal isn’t to memorize how TILEZ works. It’s to make you wonder: “What happens if I do THIS?”

BUILD ALONE OR BUILD TOGETHER

Create on your own or invite friends into shared worlds.

Work together on giant machines. Build multiplayer board games. Create challenges for each other. Design factories. Build robot battles. Or simply experiment and see what happens.

The things you create can become the things you play.

THERE IS NO FINISH LINE

There is no final boss. No required build. No single way to play.

The same tools can create a calculator, a factory, a robot, a computer, a board game, a puzzle, a work of art — or something nobody has thought of yet.

TILEZ doesn’t tell you what to build. It gives you a system flexible enough to discover things even its creator never imagined.

THE LONG-TERM VISION

The goal isn’t to dictate what you build. It’s to hand you a system so flexible that you’ll discover uses I never imagined.

ABOUT THE DEVELOPER

For the last ten years, home has been the back of my vehicle — living a minimalistic van life and chasing warmer weather. I've played games my whole life: video games, board games, and the deep strategic ones.

As a homeschooling father of two, Minecraft Redstone became a staple of our curriculum. There's no better way to teach a circuit than letting someone build one, break it, and try again.

TILEZ started as an attempt to make that teaching tool even better, and give my kids some refresher lessons. I kept adding features so the lessons could go further — more logic, more ways to see cause and effect. Eventually my little tiles grew into something entirely new.

Every system in TILEZ was designed, broken, rebuilt, and refined by one stubborn solo developer with nowhere in particular to be — teaching his little tiles to do new things every day.

They say geeks build amazing things in garages. I built mine on four wheels.

Games have given me so much over the years. TILEZ is my way of giving something back — a better way to learn, create, and play together.
