Mini Murder Mysteries is a well-received, bite-sized detective game praised for its accessibility and casual pacing. What players like

  • Perfect for short sessions 17 of 55 reviews

Many players appreciate that the nine cases are short enough to complete in 15-30 minutes, making the game ideal for quick play sessions or as a break between larger titles.

  • Accessible difficulty 12 of 55 reviews

The puzzles are generally described as approachable and not overly taxing, making it an excellent entry point for beginners who enjoy detective fiction but want a low-stress experience.

  • Strong value for money 11 of 55 reviews

Reviewers frequently mention that the game is priced fairly for its scope, providing a complete and satisfying experience without being a significant financial investment.

  • Helpful feedback system 7 of 55 reviews

The inclusion of a mechanism that allows players to check how many of their chosen words are correct without revealing the answers themselves is highly valued for keeping the deduction fun.

What players criticise

  • Inconsistent logic 7 of 55 reviews

Some cases, particularly the first one, are criticized for requiring leaps in logic or relying on guesswork rather than clear evidence, leading to frustration for some players.

  • Lacking depth and polish 4 of 55 reviews

A minority of users find the mechanics too simplistic, comparing it unfavorably to more complex genre staples and noting that the game can feel somewhat bare-bones in its presentation.

Best for: Players seeking a casual, low-pressure detective game that can be enjoyed in short, intermittent bursts.

Not for you if: Players looking for deep, mechanically complex puzzles or long-form mystery investigations that require significant time commitment.

Description

Mini Murder Mysteries is a cozy investigative deduction game made for fans of head-scratching whodunits.

Become a detective and get to work solving nine distinct, self-contained crime scene conundrums. To progress, you'll need to scour the evidence, analyze witness statements, collect relevant keywords, and make smart deductions.

Solve a series of twisty, tricksy murder mysteries.

Examine evidence, read witness statements, and collect deduction words that you'll use to solve each case.

The cases in Mini Murder Mysteries pay homage to (and build upon) tropes from across detective fiction – from dusty old manors to Ancient Egyptian museum exhibits, and from restaurant kitchens to cutting edge biochemical labs.

Leave no stone unturned as you gather clues and discover truths.

Cross-reference information. Piece things together. Use lateral thinking.

Each case's murder board is chock-full of evidence – from incriminating correspondence and fingerprint reports, to burner phones and distracting red herrings. Read about each object, collect special 'Deduction Words' as you go, and build an ironclad picture in your mind of what really happened.

Witness or suspect? Every case offers "useful" input from people closest to the victim.

Along the way you'll encounter power-mad movers and shakers, innocent bystanders, gamblers, spies, liars and lotharios. And, who knows, maybe even a lifelong nemesis?

It's up to you to work out who's telling the truth – and use your intuition to see through the lies.

Sort the coincidental from the crucial to make smart deductions.

Each of Mini Murder Mysteries' nine unique cases revolves around 24 'Deduction Words' that you'll use to assert whodunit. The problem? You'll only need a handful of those words to make the correct conclusion.

That means you'll need to get good at sifting through events, statements and information to weed out what's irrelevant and what's key to each case.

Close your case list and you might even unravel a deeper, interconnected mystery...

Most of the mysteries were solveable with no review of evidence and just figuring out what fits best with the sentence structure for how the guessing system worked. I tried to avoid that, but at a certain point when you only have one word that would fit - it feels more like a grammar test. In addition, it's very short. I love the idea here, just would be looking for a bit more.
