OBVIOUSLY, if you do not like AI then you wouldn't buy this. I am not fond of AI but I was skeptical about how it would have been used in a game such as this. I'm at least glad that the game does not use AI gen art (Although I really hope it's not a lie) since the selling point is just the socialization.
Again, I am usually against genAI but I am always willing to experiment and see how it's used in other things if it's not straight up slop.
So far, the actually gameplay is fine. It's an easy loop and the basics aren't too confusing. I really enjoy having to manage the actual things going on in school and I was really caught off guard when the studying was ACTUAL studying and not just a loading bar. Of course, I did math first, and I did horribly, lol. It was quite funny.
My only TRUE concern are the characters. Only one black character and he's a walking stereotype. Sure, there are other "tropes" in the mix, but a lot of the characters are white or Japanese are being allowed variety while the only black character is simply a basketball star who starts with low grades and likes video games or anime.
I would hope that the developer planned on adding more characters so that there would be a chance of having variety in personalities. Though out of all the characters, I am surprised that there's only one black character they could think of AND him being a man (Which is an entirely different conversation).
YES, I can add my own characters. But that is not the point, and I am not the developer. It would be nice to have variety right off the bat just as the other characters do instead of the player being forced to do it themselves. If you can add one, then I'm sure it won't hurt to add a few more.
I'm going to click "Would recommend" because this is for the people who are actually considering buying the game and not for the people who are just going to look and scroll away.
But in GENERAL, I wouldn't recommend this to most people just because of the AI as I know people don't really find good taste in that.
It would take a long time to write a bunch of lines for your characters, but it is very satisfying when you finish so I DO recommend to the dev that they should at least start writing and try it! If you made a version with all handwritten lines then it would be a perfect game for most people ESPECIALLY if you can add your own characters and OCs? Without too much modding? MONEYMAKER
But yeah, if you don't really care for AI moraling and want a decent simulator for now, then this is fine. You might just want to change Darius's information on your own time after you get the game though (If you care about stereotyping in that way)
