Writing this review after getting all the cards from the act 1 shop.
The game invites comparison to ULTRAKILL, but its roguelike structure and "keep killing enemies until the next gate unlocks" means that you cannot really just memorize the positions of where enemies spawn and need to adapt on the fly. That said, a dearth of basic enemies from which to get new guns can break the flow of combat. Also, at the moment (act 2 out) there's not much incentive in using new cards once you've got a build that works for you going. In a full release I'd like to see stuff like challenge modes using prebuilt deck or conditions that exclude certain categories of cards from deckbuilding.

Some cards are a bit vague in describing what they actually do but that might just be a stylistic choice on the dev's part so I won't comment on that other than saying I'd prefer it if it were a bit more detailed.

Overall, a pretty short game for now and the fact that you can snowball pretty hard means that people that find movement shooters hard might still manage to complete a run with enough RNG and attempts, but also it's a game from a solo developer and personally I've been mainlining JRPGs for the past year so I appreciate something a bit shorter.

been playing since the first release and following the development, and the game is SO much fun! there's a lot to master, and the different playstyles possible with decks and such make it so that when it gets high-octane in later rounds it's a whoooole lot of fun to try and keep pace with! I'm a total sucker for the aesthetic too, every bit of the visual creates this super interesting vibe!! game good!!!!!
