I’ve always liked Domini Games’ stuff, so I’ve picked up pretty much every “Christmas Fables” title at this point.
But this one… kinda missed the mark. I get that it’s a fantasy world, but the AI-generated art is way too obvious. It actually pulls you out of the experience instead of pulling you in. And for a hidden object game, IMMERSION is literally the whole point. I really wanted to like this, but it ends up feeling more distracting than magical. Please dial back the AI stuff in future games. Luckily, the music and overall holiday vibe are still pretty cozy, which I did appreciate.
If you play a lot of HOGs, you will be disapointed with this. It's only about an hour and a half of game play, and there were locked scenes and choices that require the DLC purchase. It's got beautiful scenery, but I was really saddened to see that it was all AI, including the creepy cutscenes.
The pictures that you see above of the game aren't even in this edition that I purchased.
Unfortunately AI has started to creep in and these games are shorter, while charging the same price. Not only that it crashed out when I tried to see if I could open up additional chapters....black screen. This had all the potential to be good, but I recommend saving your money. It's not the same quality as years past and ruined my Christmas excitement of getting this year's game.
