First i bought it for nostalgia cause i like 90's F1, but the game is boring after 7 minutes of play i played quite a few arcade style games but this is not it.

This is a very unrealistic but really exciting racing game. The reviews and comments that cite its similarities with old SEGA arcade titles and the Senna Forever DLC of the now unavailable Horizon Chase Turbo are very accurate, in my opinion. I really like it! After you finish the short championships, though, there's not much to do.

I'm also a fan of the amount of cars in this. It's not groundbreaking, but they really included as many classic teams as they could. "Fairsteel" and "Handcraft" are standout parody names.

Overall, 4PGP is kind of like a micro-sized (GBA-like, in the gameplay sense, though not the graphical) version of F1 Challenge on SEGA Saturn. I do recommend it, if that description interests you.

Dudes in there 30s with nostalgia for Virtua Racing and other Sega racers love this game.

This is a legitimate Modern Arcade Racing Masterpiece. It's hard to really appreciate how great it is until you play it. The control is so dang tight it's crazy. Gonna have to buy a wheel again just for this game lol.

I would love to see Time Attack get unlimited laps, or the option to select as many laps as you wanna do. I don't mean to be one of those people who say how great a game is and then leave their feature requests, but I really do just wanna vibe on one track for like 20+ minutes.

          Great work devs!

This is good, but you've got to come into it with the correct understanding and judge the game on what it is, not on what it hasn't tried to be.

This is an arcade racer in the early 90s coin-op sense. Perhaps more accurately, the "home coin-op conversion with additional tracks" sense. In my 2.2 hours of play, I've completed all of the championships on Novice, Veteran and Expert difficulty, this totalling 36 races of which I won 34. I did all of that using the best cars available to me at the time, unlocking a couple of tracks on the way that I can try in single race mode down the line. I've unlocked a lot of cars but there are still 2 or 3 left to get, and I'll re-do the championships to win the couple of races I didn't quite win.

It might take a couple of hours longer to mop up the championships than I've needed, depending on how well you gel with the game immediately - the Expert AI is quick, the game deliberately keeps races close at that level and so those races are never won by more than a second, usually much less - but only a matter of a couple more hours for an experienced arcade racing fan, I'd have thought. There's no career mode, no progression through eras, no Create A Team, no resource management, just cars on a track going quickly in those Championships, Quick Races and local-only Time Attacks.

If that's an issue, you're better off with New Star GP. If you think you can work with that, you'll find a kind of Virtua Racing/F1 Super Lap hybrid, where 2 or 3 corners per lap will need you to brake and the flat-out corners need you to take a smart line, minimise your steering and carry speed. Minimising your steering keeps your tyres in shape, which means fewer pit stops on the harder levels, where race length increases from 3 laps to 5 and you'll utilise the pit lane to replenish tyres and turbo, inspired by F-Zero. Difficulty is pitched such that Novice lets you learn the track, Veteran lets you learn the car (top speed increases from 170-ish mph to 210-ish between levels), and Expert lets you put it all into practice against the fastest AI - there's a clear sequence and logic to it that works well, and the variety of faux-1991 'F1' cars in the game, all with different stats, means there's scope to go back and test yourself in some of the weaker vehicles if you've first used a mock Benetton, Ferrari or Williams to win the titles.

Flaws? It *is* short, undeniably, and if it doesn't grab you fairly quickly, there's no new mechanic coming after an hour to change the game for you. The easily-identifiable cars look great and some of the engine sounds, the V12 'Ferrari' especially, are terrific too, but trackside objects look flat and drab in places - the buildings and boats at pretend Monaco are a particularly jarring example. The AI is absolutely fine for an arcade experience but on Expert, this means things get a little rubber-bandy to keep the race competitive; it fits the nature and style of the game perfectly well, and it's nothing like as extreme as some of the old coin-ops had to be in that regard, but it's there. I also think the AI isn't slowed down in the pit lane as aggressively as you, which doesn't stop you winning but doesn't feel entirely right either.

I found it all to be really good fun, and I'll continue to do so for a little while yet. If you're part of the target audience, if you have a nostalgia for - or simply a fondness of - racing games where the sky was always bright blue, a race only lasted 3 minutes and the entire last lap was set to a soaring mix of guitars and keyboards - you'll have a blast with this. 4PGP set out to evoke those memories, those images, that era, and the end result does a fine job of doing so. It does not try to do anything else.

Gameplay too simplistic. Too few things to spice up the driving and the races.
Nice art style and sense of speed but that's it
