●Story
The story follows protagonist Yuri Mito, the only son of the local priest at Yachimata Shrine.
After a series of events during spring break, Yuri meets Kikuramikami no Hime, the guardian of a mystical relic in the woods near his school. She explains the strained history between humans and the Tayutai, a mythical race sealed within the relic due to their potential threat to humanity. To bridge the gap between their worlds, the goddess reincarnates as a young girl named Mashiro and entrusts herself to Yuri. However, the relic is accidentally destroyed, releasing the Tayutai. Particularly dangerous are the "Three Mightiest," powerful entities hostile toward humans.
Armed with spirit powers unique to his lineage, Yuri teams up with Mashiro and three other heroines to explore whether humans and Tayutai can coexist peacefully. This romantic fantasy adventure tells a heartfelt tale of growth, connection, and the mysteries of love.
▶Character

・Mashiro Mito VA: Risa Matsuda
Upon meeting, she immediately declares the protagonist her husband and even shows up on the first day back to school.
Her pursuit of the protagonist is what many would call "intense", and she ends up living in the Mito household.
Mashiro is tolerant and level-headed, but that just makes rousing her anger all the more terrifying.
"I'm always on your side, no matter what."

・Ameri Kawai VA: Kaori Hanano
The childhood friend and classmate of the protagonist, the protagonist.
She can be persistent and persuasive in drawing others into her way of handling things, but when it comes to love, she's a bit on the timid side...
"You guys are so lucky to have me around! Seriously, you should be showering me with thanks!"

・Mifuyu Kisaragi VA: Rina Misaki
As the heir to the aristocratic Kisaragi Conglomerate, Mifuyu has been raised to be both strong of character and someone others will naturally rally behind.
She's rather fond of romance novels, the kind where things are depicted a little too pure for reality.
She's well trained in many things, including swordsmanship and martial arts.
"...You really do love bikes, don't you?"

・Yumina Takanashi VA: Yu Aoto
Yumina looks up to the protagonist as an older brother. When her birth parents went bankrupt, they gave her to the Mito family to raise.

Impossible franchise to larp
AMAZING
I must say, I sure am surprised. Having read another Lump of Sugar work, I'd always thought they had potential, but just didn't quite hit it. Tayutama was the proof of that promise. For an old work, it's aged remarkably well. The artwork is still quite charming, the music is excellent as usual from these devs, and the characters are the standout. The relationships in this VN are... well, raw, in a way you don't often get. They can make you kinda uncomfortable and annoyed at times, showing how effective the writing for those scenes are. It's quite impressive, and surprising for a setting that would normally be written off as goofy.
I do highly recommend it, just keep in mind it's mostly a comfy character work.
A small warning, however: People who only read on Steam may well have never encountered this old quirk, but Tayutama has the old VN hallmark of reading multiple routes being a gigantic pain in the neck. The reason being for that, is old VN's didn't mark/structure their routes in a way which properly marks content as having been "read" like they do today. So from your second route onward, it's going to be up to you to remember what scenes you have and haven't read, and skip accordingly. With the knowledge that new lines have been sprinkled throughout the old scenes and are easily missable.
Felt a little boring at times, unfortunately not my thing. 7/10
I liked a bit of everything about this game, "a bit" being the operative word. The main issue is that some things felt over-exaggerated which took away from my enjoyment. I liked some of the voice acting, but some characters sound weird (probably a personal preference thing though). I liked some of the music. There are beautiful tracks in the game, but others get super repetitive and annoying after a while. I liked some of the art. There are stunning CGs, but other times they feel "off" either in coloring or composition.
Throughout my entire experience reading it, the story wasn't anything particularly special. Given the fantasy aspect of it, a lot of thought was clearly put into it to avoid inconsistencies and ensure an immersive experience. While the story itself seemed solid, it didn't really hook me in. By the time I had reached the heroines' routes, I started finding it more and more boring. I can see this game being a hit-or-miss depending on the person reading it. If this VN looks interesting to you, then I think it's worth giving a shot.
this game guilt tripped me to doing the main heroine route's first
