Description
DEVELOPMENT HIATUS - APRIL 2026
WE'LL BE BACK!!
We've recently made the difficult decision to pause development of Die For The Lich. It's painful to see new reviews claiming the game is "abandoned" - but we knew there would be backlash to this announcement, and understand that it feeds into many negative perceptions around Early Access. We have no desire to hide from our fans or ghost anyone who has supported us, and feel it is best to communicate honestly.
Early sales came up short of our projections (likely due to the initial Mixed reception) which forced us to reassess our Early Access runway. The options were (1) push out something half-baked and move on, or (2) put things on a hiatus until a new plan can be made. We chose the latter, which is in our mind the much more customer-friendly version. The delays is frustrating, I know. But I am certain that would be preferred over having paid for something that never gets finished.
However, the financials were not the only consideration, otherwise this could be resolved by further publisher support. Die For The Lich is made by two brother who don't live in the same city, don't get to see each other in person very often, and felt that their relationship had become only game development after 1.5 years of grinding. I empathize with their need to recharge, and feel that these two deserve room to be brothers-first for a little while before returning to this project.
Whatever the next game is under the Monovoid name, it will likely be done either solo or with a new collaborator. This gives the boys a chance to spend quality time together without drowning in development decisions. They can explore their individual creativity and expand their skills, then come back together stronger for Die For The Lich!
We apologize for this detour, and the ways in which it lets our fans down. This is our promise that the game WILL be finished as soon as we can. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

I love this game.
I found it when I was literally looking for a roguelite that had dice throwing and multiple types of dice. This was the only game that did exactly what I was looking for.
Imagine how it felt to hear that they were going to stop development with a undecided return date. The game has so much room to improve, most important being either long enough to fully stack your build.
excellent deck game
oh man. this game is very ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fun.
it's also extremely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ shady to put it on sale when it's absolute abandonware.
"we are gonna hopefully try to maybe finish it someday" is absolute bs.
I requested a refund. If you finish it I will rebuy it instantly but damn boys, this is pretty uncool.
Don't listen to the review bombing individuals. In the current day and age entitled people have no mercy or patience for other people's passion projects.
The game has a unique artstyle, designs, visual language, music and atmosphere. It's being worked on by a terribly small team, two people if I'm not mistaken. Despite that the early access version is plenty enjoyable! If I didn't know it was early access I would consider this a finished project.
I really like it and I will wait eagerly for the developers to come back to this game when their time and energy allows for it. And even if they don't, it was a wonderful little adventure!
Yes, it has plenty of RNG but that's the case for any dice game ever made, digital or irl table top. That's just how DICE work. You'll know if it's for you if you play the demo. It is slightly different than the game itself which is more polished.
Why would you review bomb a project if you want the author to come back to it? Are you crazy?? Do you think they're gonna say "well now that you threatened me I will come back with an update so so eagerly!"?????
Abandoned by devs.
