Description
It is interesting to note that the "large military glider" as a class, as suddenly as it appeared before the Second World War, disappeared almost immediately after it. The disappearance occurred before the aviation epoch had changed forever, when new anti-aircraft weapons or new interceptors would have devalued all the advantages of this type of vehicle, and the development of helicopter technology had not yet reached the level to become an important factor in the capabilities of airborne forces. However, the use of gliders was almost immediately abandoned, most likely due to high losses among the airborne troops which reached 40%. Nevertheless, you have the opportunity to experience this period of history in the world of our simulator.
In our simulator, the visual model of the glider was restored with great care and our engineers recreated in its new virtual life all the main features of its control and use. It should be noted that this is a new class of objects for our simulator and we have developed a number of technologies to make its realization possible - for example, a flexible towing cable.
In addition to Quick Mission Builder and Multiplayer modes, you can fly it in its own scenario "Chicago Night" if you have Normandy module and it's planned to add glider flying scenarios to Advanced Quick Mission mode soon. If you have Normandy and/or Bodenplatte modules and C-47 Collector Plane, you can get glider towing missions during major airborne operations - Overlord, Market Garden and Varsity.

need mission generator missions for it to be good... fun plane either way, not work 20 dollars, wait for sale.
I enjoyed this DLC and its missions
i bought this just so i could complain about how ridiculous it is that this wasnt just included with the li 2 or the c -47 .... your constant micro transaction grabs are why this game doesnt grow...
Let me say it is good plane, when you will find good thermics, it has hope to glide far with elegance!
I like that opening nose, interesting design...
I love, that thanks to fact it is a glider this machine does not make any sound, you can hear only the wind blowing around.
But be carefully with the wing constructions, it is wooden-made plane with wing construction also from wood, so at speeds above 220 Mph you will have from wing piece of .....nothing
FLy with fun!
The Asset No-One Wanted Has Finally Arrived.
Of all the aircraft we could've had, somehow the Waco CG-4A combat glider is the one we got.
The glider itself is ok, but nothing more than that. It really isn't anything special. You spend a long time hanging behind a C-47, release your tow cable, glide down and come to a stop. And that's it. It gets boring a lot quicker than you might think. There's nothing particularly special about flying or landing it, and there isn't much to do in it because there are no options for it in the Quick Mission Builder (despite the developers saying there would be missions for it there). That means your only options are a very simple pre-made mission on the Normandy map, and free flight.
In the context of the wider development of Sturmovik, it starts to become a bit of a joke. Community requests are ignored en-masse. There's community disapproval of this glider because nearly everyone thinks 1C have bigger fish to fry, and then this is what they spend their time on instead. Mass-requests from dozens in the community for aircraft (B-17, more Allied bombers, French aircraft), and for theatres (Pacific, late-war Eastern Front, Italy, North Africa) are ignored.
The developers have complained before that they won't add a B-17 because it'd be too much work for a single aircraft. But if they spent half the time on a B-17 that they already have on pointless Collector Planes like the CG-4A, maybe we could've actually had it by now.
