Description

Story

You play as the professional treasure hunter Jerome, who’s recently left the guild, because the other members benefited too much from your hard work and experience. You have finally realized that you are far better off working alone.

The scene takes place in an abandoned ancient dungeon. The word around town says the dungeon is haunted and without any details about the place, no one ever dared to set foot down there. Luckily you have managed to get hold of a map of the place.

After arriving at the ruin, your main goal is now to locate and grab an exceptional artifact. Unfortunately, others share the same goal as you

How to play

During gameplay, you are going to make some choices and sacrifices, which affects the outcome of how the game progresses. There’s no right and wrong.

The dungeon holds many clues about the dark past. You will find some interesting objects. Some objects are collectible and some are readable. The crosshair turns green, if you look at objects of interest.

Also, watch out for dangers such as traps, pits and enemies. You will die instantly if you aren’t observant. Luckily there’s several checkpoints across the dungeon.

Great idea, mostly solid execution but just too undercooked.

The game starts out great. Graphics look good, sound design is great and not only does it have voice acting, it's decent too. I appreciated the checkpoints before sections that could insta-kill me, and the jumpscares got me really bad sometimes. A very tense experience... until it starts falling apart.

Sadly, it feels like the game has not been tested well enough enough; torches flicker on or off depending on whether you're crouching or not. Some of the settings dont seem to do anything after setting them and they revert to their previous state when restarting the game. The game says you've reached a checkpoint but when you start up the game to continue from where you left off, you'rem greeted with only "New Game" in the main menu.

After replaying the game to the point where I left off in my first session, I made it to an optional area I solved earier, that requires you to do a trial and error puzzle that seems to be randomised for each playthrough. In my previous session, completing this puzzle opened a door to the area it leads to. On my retry, it did not, locking me out of said area for that playthrough for seemingly no reason.

Towards the end area, I encountered an invisible wall that prevented me from entering one of the tunnels (to the prison), essentially locking me out of progressing with what I assume was a different ending. I took the only ending that was therefore available to me, and my reward was a buggy endscreen where the results screen of my playthrough (how much and secrets I found) was displayed at the same time as the credits, at the same time, on top of each other. Once the results screen disappeared, the credits started rolling, but it was a jumbled mess of names very obviously overlapping one another, rendering it absolutely unreadable.

All in all, the idea was solid, the atmosphere was tense and the voice acting was well above and beyond what I had expected, I just wish this game had gotten the same amount of care in QA as it did in all the other aforementioned areas. It's such a shame that it didn't, makes me sad when I consider "what could have been".

In its current state, due to all the bugs I listed out, I cannot, in good faith, recommend it.

This game is very enjoyable, It looks beautiful and has amazing visuals as well as some terrifying audio combined with great jumpscares that make it super unnerving. The Puzzles were easy but not so easy that it made it boring. I like that there is so many different areas to explore and multiple possible endings. This game has a lot going for it and I recommend it for anyone looking for a good horror game to play right now.
