About the Game

It’s hard to get the memory of that case out my head... I can’t even think about what my old partner went through without getting a bad taste in my mouth. I guess that’s why I’m sittin' here drinking yet another glass of cold, hard milk.

Inspector Waffles was hoping his worst days were behind him, but the murder of a high-profile industrialist CEO beloved by the citizens of Cat Town raises new questions and fears.
Being the best inspector on the CTPD, Waffles has no choice: he's gotta push past the painful memories, don his well-worn overcoat, and prepare to get his paws dirty.
A detective story reminiscent of the old school classics, Inspector Waffles provides plenty of peculiar mystery, a story full of intrigue, and a slew of characters to interrogate, all wrapped into beautifully simple pixel-art. Will you be able to sniff out every clue and nab the murderer?
A REAL TREAT, SEE?
- A brilliant feline detective in a world full of anthropomorphic cats, dogs, and maybe other species. It’s pixel-animal madness, I tell ya.
- A beautiful jazzy soundtrack, full of notes and music and harmony pleasing to your ears and brain.
- Chock full of dry humor and puns about cats and dogs. Seriously, I couldn’t think of any more puns to include. The pun supply is exhausted.

I couldn't even play that far: life's too short. This game makes all the classic frustrating mistakes a "detective" point-and-click can make.
First, crime-solving is not exactly at the center of it: the center is fetching things that other weird characters want for weird reasons, and combining them in insane unintuitive ways.
Second, so much dialog and especially inner monolog (not funny or interesting for the most part) that my finger hurts from clicking through it.
But what made me stop playing was a puzzle with a pretty obvious solution, with a clue in plain sight, and a hint in the inner monolog, but.... I don't get to solve it, I don't even get to try out my theory, because my character hasn't found some kind of final piece that would spell it all out with extra obviousness, I guess.
Pretty much everything I love the most from a game. Good story, good music. Good puzzles, humour. Cats! Super enjoying the subtle references to other point and click adventure games such as Broken Sword and Maniac Mansion/Day of the Tentacle.
WE ARE THE LIONS!!!
Wonderful game that's full to the brim with puns. Seriously, there is a lot of them, this has to be some sort of record. Gameplay is enjoyable, most puzzles are fairly straight-forward, though I missed something a few times and had to call my mom, which works as a fun hint system. Only issue I stumbled upon was when I needed to get milk and a piece of dialogue said that there is milk in a fridge when I inspected it. I had to get different milk from somewhere else though. Dialogue is very fun to read with the jokes and aforementioned puns.
The game took me 4.8 hours to beat, and is a great experience on the Steam Deck.
